Mullanpur Cricket Stadium Records & Pitch: India’s Results, Scores & Stats

India’s record by format, the 17-match IPL scoring sample and what the ground cannot yet tell us about men’s ODI cricket.

Record cutoff: 2 October 2026, before the India–West Indies ODI scheduled for 3 October.

Mullanpur Cricket Stadium is the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium at Tira, New Chandigarh, Punjab. Its IPL record now covers 17 completed matches, but its international record is much smaller: two women’s ODIs, one men’s T20I and one men’s Test. As of this cutoff, no men’s ODI has been completed here. Those formats tell different stories, so this guide keeps their results apart.

Mullanpur cricket stadium pitch and records at a glance

IPL measure Verified figure through 29 May 2026
Matches 17 completed IPL matches
First-innings average 186.59 runs
Batting-first wins 8 of 17 (47.06%)
Chasing wins 9 of 17 (52.94%)
Highest team innings Punjab Kings 254/7 vs Lucknow Super Giants, 19 April 2026
Lowest completed team innings Kolkata Knight Riders 95 vs Punjab Kings, 15 April 2025

The first-innings average is an IPL figure, not an average for all T20 cricket at the venue. It does not include the December 2025 men’s T20I. The 8–9 split is too close to turn into a reliable toss rule; match conditions and the particular strip still matter.

What is India’s record at Mullanpur Cricket Stadium?

India’s results are already known in three international categories. The venue’s complete format-by-format records contain more scorecard detail; this table answers the basic win-and-loss question.

Format and date Match scores India’s result
Women’s ODI · 14 September 2025 India Women 281/7; Australia Women 282/2 Lost by eight wickets
Women’s ODI · 17 September 2025 India Women 292; Australia Women 190 Won by 102 runs
Men’s T20I · 11 December 2025 South Africa 213/4; India 162 Lost by 51 runs
Men’s Test · 6–8 June 2026 India 564/8 declared; Afghanistan 152 and 112 Won by an innings and 300 runs
Men’s ODI · scheduled 3 October 2026 India vs West Indies No completed men’s ODI at cutoff

Has India lost at Mullanpur?

Yes. India Women lost the first ODI here to Australia Women in September 2025, and India’s men lost the December 2025 T20I to South Africa. India Women won the next ODI, while India’s men won the June 2026 Test against Afghanistan. Saying India has “never lost at Mullanpur” would therefore be wrong—and combining the women’s and men’s results into one ODI record would also be misleading.

IPL batting, bowling and team records at Mullanpur

The range between 254/7 and 95 is more useful than calling this ground automatically high-scoring or bowler-friendly. Those are different games, in different seasons, on a venue with more than one prepared strip.

IPL record Holder or match Date
Highest team total Punjab Kings 254/7 vs Lucknow Super Giants 19 April 2026
Lowest team total Kolkata Knight Riders 95 vs Punjab Kings 15 April 2025
Highest successful chase Punjab Kings 223/4 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad 11 April 2026
Highest individual score Shubman Gill 104 for Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals 29 May 2026
Best innings bowling Yuzvendra Chahal 4/28 for Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders 15 April 2025

These are IPL records only. Smriti Mandhana’s 117 in a women’s ODI, Quinton de Kock’s 90 in a men’s T20I and Shubman Gill’s 126 in a Test belong in their own format records—not this IPL table. For individual IPL innings and context, see the Shubman Gill T20 venue page and Rohit Sharma T20 venue page.

Does the Mullanpur pitch favour batting or bowling?

The record supports a conditional answer. The 17-match IPL first-innings average is 186.59, and nine teams have won while chasing. But one team has reached 254/7 here and another has been dismissed for 95. That spread cautions against labelling every Mullanpur pitch the same way.

Chahal’s 4/28 also shows why a claim that spin cannot work here would be too broad. Seamers may find help in a particular match—the early wickets in India’s men’s T20I against South Africa are one example—but a venue-wide seam-versus-spin percentage has not been verified for this article. Check the match strip, conditions and teams before calling an upcoming game pace- or spin-friendly.

The venue’s sand-based outfield and herringbone drainage describe how the ground handles water, not an immutable batting-pitch classification or a guaranteed time for play to resume after rain.

What do the two women’s ODIs tell us before a men’s ODI?

They give a small, women’s-ODI-only reference. India Women made 281/7 in the first match and 292 in the second: a two-match first-innings average of 286.5. The chasing sides finished on 282/2 and 190, an average of 236. One chase succeeded and the other did not.

Those two games cannot set a par score for the men’s match. The first men’s ODI is India vs West Indies on 3 October 2026, scheduled for 2:00 PM IST. At this article’s cutoff it has not produced a result. Check the completed scorecard before making a men’s ODI average or adding either side to the venue’s men’s ODI win–loss record.

PitchVaani’s ground read

At Mullanpur, the useful question is not simply “bat or bowl first?” It is which format and which match are we talking about? The IPL average gives a 17-game starting point; the international evidence is four matches spread across three separate categories. The two women’s ODIs, one men’s T20I and one Test can illustrate the range of outcomes, not predict the next 50-over score.

The ground at Tira is not the older I. S. Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali. For the stadium’s naming and location, read Tira Cricket Stadium: From Village to International Venue. If you are attending a fixture, the Mullanpur match-day guide covers the ticketed gate, final transfer and event-specific parking checks.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mullanpur Cricket Stadium the same as Tira Stadium?

Yes. Tira is the village location and Mullanpur the nearby area. The official venue name is Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. The older Mohali PCA stadium is a different ground.

Is the Mullanpur pitch better for batting or bowling?

There is no all-format verdict. Across 17 IPL matches, the first-innings average was 186.59, with 8 batting-first wins and 9 chasing wins. Individual matches have ranged from 254/7 to 95; review the relevant strip and format.

Has India lost a match at Mullanpur?

Yes. India Women lost the 14 September 2025 ODI to Australia Women, and India’s men lost the 11 December 2025 T20I to South Africa. They also have a women’s ODI win and a men’s Test win here.

When is the first men’s ODI at Mullanpur?

India vs West Indies is scheduled for 3 October 2026 at the New Chandigarh venue. As of the 2 October record cutoff, no men’s ODI had been completed at this ground.

Does Mullanpur’s drainage mean play restarts immediately after rain?

No fixed restart time follows from the outfield design. Umpires and ground staff must assess actual weather, surface and safety conditions; an event-specific update is more useful than a general estimate.
